After conceding an early goal, Norwich, and in particular Josh Murray, fought back to comfortably beat Charlton Athletic 4-1 to progress to the next stage of the Carabao Cup.
Charlton’s goalscorer Lee Novak finished well into the top corner of the net, but it was ultimately not enough to deter Norwich from striding forward.
Josh Murray leveled the score just before half time with a brilliant first time strike from outside the area, before finishing off a fine solo effort to put the Canaries back in front.
Although Charlton should probably have done better with a chance gifted to Josh Magennis, the visitors were unable to get a grip of the game and it wasn’t long before a Marley Watkins’ tap-in and a late volley from Tom Trybull secured the victory.
We look forward to the draw for the 3rd round, which takes place on Thursday the 24th of August, with Manchester United entering the draw after winning the Europa League last season.
